Earlier this week I parked under a tree and three hours later when I returned to the car there were 30 or so yellow spots on the hood and roof. I washed the car that night and while the yellow spots came off, the clearcoat where they had been was damaged. The spots are slightly raised (you can feel them with your finger nail) and are about 5 millimeters in diameter. I tried some cleaner/wax and it didn't help. As a last resort I tried some 1500 grit sandpaper on one of the spots and it removed it. The next day I took the car to the dealer b/c they have a good paint guy there. He said he will need to use a razor blade perpendicular to the surface to knock the raised portion down, then wet sand them out then polish the hood. He said the result will be fine and the peel won't be affected. Ouch. What do you guys think?

what about clay bar? will that get it off? My gf's father used a razorblade against the surface of her car to remove some contaminants and it scratched the car HORRIBLY. btw, I think the small yellow spots are insect feces.

Correct. The safest would be to use a clay bar and then use different abrasive compund polishes to see what works best starting with the less abrasive ones.
