Reasonable price for Compound/Wax/Polish in NYC?
Whats up guys, Its spring and its almost time to get out car detailed.
I went to a shop to get pricing for Compound + Wax + Polish from one of our detailer on this forum and he priced me at $440. He said he will throw in a free interior shampooing.
When he said $440 that kinda threw me off. I can go to a local shop around my way that can do the same job for for half or less the cost. I have come across several vendors in this forum (no names) who tried to beat me in the head with their prices, gimmicks and excuses...but is $440 something anyone on this forum would pay for detailing?

It wouldn't be an unreasonable price if your car was trashed and needed 10 hours of paint correction etc.
However, if your car has been kept reasonably clean I would discourage "compounding" and have a detail shop clay, polish, and wax the car ... I can't weigh in on NYC prices; I'm some poor slob living NJ slums ;-)

That is about the norm around here, I have seen excellent results from the professionals; but I am a DIYer and prefer to learn and do things myself. Especially when the cost of a detail would pay for a full kit that will allow me to do my own detailing when needed for years to come.
