All this talk about waxing etc...Does anyone or has anyone done the whole dealer installed "paint protection" package or "leather and dash protection" package etc? It seems to me that that would be easier and nicer and less work? Or even with that stuff do you still need to wax etc? What is the vote?

I would think that the common view amongst detailing fanatics is no!

All paint polishes, waxes or "protectants" are vulnerable to the sun/rain/elements/washing etc.

There is no magic potion & there is no substitute for good & regular detailing.

For example, on the Meguiar's site they refer to wax as a sacrificial barrier to protect your paint/clear coat. i.e. wax regularly (amongst other steps) for best results.

The paint and interior "lifetime" protection products are today's version of undercoating...or snake oil. A total rip off. No such thing as lifetime protection. Those, and things like flat tire insurance, are high margin items that are a total rip off.
