Negative, you have to get rid of the wax. Rejex has to seal the original paintwork.

So for us UK readers - What is Dawn ? Is this a dishwashing liquid ?

I have always been told never to use this on a car - maybe because it strips the wax ?

Dawn (or any detergent) is not good for the paint. Yes, it will remove the wax...including in places where you won't think to (or be able to) wax, so you'll have painted areas stripped bare of any protection.

I'd either wait until the wax has broken down on its own (probably 2 months for most carnauba), or use a pre-cleaner such as Zymol HD-Cleanse:

You can rejex over the wax. That is perfectly fine. It will just not last as long and will break-down with the normal wear down of the wax itself. Instead of 3-4 months of rejex protection you get maybe 2 months. Then you apply your rejex again.
