My Ride: I have an 05 545i. It's a manual with a few options. This is my first BMW but I don't know how I'll ever be able to switch to something else.
I would say yes, it would help the seats absorb the conditioner better when heated up, it will open up the pores of the leather.
As for the suppleness problem, you will need something to provide some intense conditioners to get them feeling soft. The Meg's and Lexol stuff is good for weekly cleaning and touch ups but if your seats are getting harder than you like, I would suggest getting some Leatherique.
It's a good 2-step process: rejuvenator oil to soften up the seats and re nourish them, then a cleaner to remove the dirt & oils pushed out of the leather by the rej. oil. This is the best leather product i've ever used, though I'm interested in trying out that Leather master kit

Thanks. I did a Lexol conditioner/cleaner cooking today - let the lotion soak into the leather in the sun for a few hours and then wiped it down - and the results are impressive. Loosened lots of dirt. Now I think I might try Leatherique before the winter - but I would really like the leather smell. Hoping Leatherique has a great smell because Lexol doesn't have much of one.

Leatherique out of the bottle doesn't smell that great, but it smells natural if that makes any sense.
After using it, the smell of the leather will return to it's original state. At least on my car it did.
