My Ride: 2005 E60 530i Steptronic Mystic Blue
No mods yet...
Hi!
I own a Mystic Blue 530i, and live in New Zealand.
Anyway, my wife went into an automatic carwash, which had brushes to clean and I found out that there were millions of fine, minor scratches on the whole surface of the car. :'( (swirls)
Anyway, these look horrible on the day, and even though I waxed the car regularly, it won't go away.
Is there any ways I can remove these???
Btw, I use TurtleWax. Are Turtlewax products okay? and I keep on getting streaks when applying waxes. It's so annoying!! I don't know what to do next! Maybe it's because I apply it in circular motion. I heard that I'm supposed to apply it back and forth to avoid getting swirls. Is this right??
Thank you~~

Ouch.
I don't have an answer for you but it reminds me of a story.
When I was a kid, we had a lawyer who lived next door and let his partner borrow his Rolls Royce Silver Cloud because a big client was in town. He took it to a car wash (this was in the 70s) and scratched the finish. Yikes.

Take it to a high end detailer and they will be able to buff out the swirls. Then keep it away from automatic car washes. There are several in my area that are totally touchless--the car is pulled along a track while it's washed by hand.

Use 3M Imperial Hand Glaze - it does wonders for removing those swirl marks. I need to do this regularly on my carbon black, even though I hand wash (softest paint I have ever seen).
BTW lots of opinions out there on wax, but make sure you are using a high quality wax (I use Blitz One Grand carnauba wax)
