Yep, here's where you decide how dedicated you are to making your wheels truly shine when you clean your car. I use q-tips for those spokes that are too thin for a brush. Just sliding the q-tip across the surface picks up 95% percent of the brake dust. Usually takes about 8 or so q-tips per wheel.

The results are worth the 10 minutes of back-breaking work.

Wow, that's a lot of Q-tips to clean those 172s.

Beautiful. Like I said, 172s are a labor of love.

I get a cheapy mircofibre cloth, cut it up and wrap it around a chop stick to get inbetween the small spokes.

Richard I found this too, so I bought an Autoglym brush and trimmed the bristles to fit exactly between the spokes as nothing was getting close. I also use Bilburys wheel cleaner which is great.

I'm having trouble reaching into the thinner/narrower part of the spokes on the 172s
wanna hear what i did? i took a sponge that id wash my dishes with.. and i cut the back off.. the scrubby part? ( cause if you dont it will scratch your wheels up as its too abrasive) then when i wash my 172's i use that sponge and i just slide the sponge into those narrow parts.. works for me.. when the sponge gets too soft i get a new one.. cheap and easy..

trade em for some 124's

jk I went for 124's instead of 172's because the 172's reminded me of the M3 rims I had on my e46
