Ding from acorn
I was away at a summer program in the Poconos (Pennsylvania) and parked my car for about a week. It's hard not to find a tree-less place in a forest so I parked it away from the road and away from cars and trucks ...
When I got home Thursday night I did a quick wash to get rid of a week's worth of dust and bird crap and discovered a ding (about dime-sized) in, of all places, on the body-work, about 1/4 inch off the edge of the rear window! (Pictures to follow) It's a very shallow depression but because it's on the curve of the body and close to eye level when your eye follows the rear window edge and curve of the roof-line it's right there!!
Then I remembered that there were lots of large acorns around my car. Hard to believe that an acorn could dent one of the toughest areas of our cars. I could see if it bounced off the hood or trunk lid
May take a shot at trying the heat-gun and compressed air car technique when the rain stops this weekend. I think that part of the roof is double-walled and there doesn't seem to be anyway to get behind it thru the trunk or headliner but will have a PDR guy who does my dealer's cars take a look next week.

Good luck in getting it fixed.

Thanks guys ... I have an appointment with the PDR guy at my dealer next week. Unfortunately, after a closer inspection I have 3 more dings ... one more tiny one on the roof and two on the hood
Too bad the squirrels couldn't have more productive and eaten more of those freakin acorns before they rained on my car !
