Ok, so here's the deal, I just got my new quad set up, so the new tip on the right side of the car is brand new, and the one on the left is already run in, you know, smoke, and black and everything. So my car kinda looks silly, with one side new, one side kinda dark and old, is there any product I can use to clean my older one a bit to make it look a bit newer?

I usually don't recommend OTC products, but I must say that the Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish is excellent. It's a little messy, but works wonders. First, you'll want to wash the area with PH balanced car soap. After that prep, you'll want to cover the area to be cleaned with a medium film and rub it in very well with a cotton terry towel, this will remove the big heavy stuff. To restore gloss, apply less polish and spend while with heavy to medium pressure buffing the surface, eventually removing the vast majority of the residue, which should be black. After every application, buff & remove the remaining polish with a cotton terry towel, it should be turning black, as the polish will be thin, unless you applied too much.

If the surface has significant tar or carbon contamination, or oxidized/swirled - i'll bring out one of those dual density, yellow and green foam cleaning pads and rub it with the heavier foam vigorously. (Don't get it wet, let it soak in product instead - it will be difficult at first but it will be much more effective this way) After a few applications it will be slightly hazed from the heavy sponge. To remedy this, flip it to the soft side and start polishing away with smaller amounts of the metal polish than before to give it a shine and take advantage of the polish, as apposed to the chemical cleaner removing heavy contamination. Also, this will prevent future contamination because this product creates a strong water repellent effect that lasts for months.

Try using what the motorcylist use on their chrome pipe. It's called Semichrome and can be picked up at any Harley Davidson Dealer! It's what the military and State Troopers use to shine their medals.

Can you guys find wadding polish over there? It works great to shine up the tips and get rid of the black, caked-on stuff. Read this for more info:
