Car polishing

So how many of you polish a car semi-dry. By that I mean with a slight oil? I tried it and it's amazing on the finish. i'm not a pro but I just finished painting a car and there was SLIGHT orange peel on the car. Actually if you look at most new cars you will see this. I was just in a BMW showroom and ALL the cars had orange peel paint. To me it's unacceptable. I read somewhere they do this so that after so many washes it look perfect. I think this is a crock. If you're buy a $60K car the factory better use some great spray machines.
It's been 40 days since paint so I decided now is the time to polish her. I'll post up pics when I have them.
For example look at a piece of plastic you use often to see what I'm talking about.
So how many of you have used a polisher and took your time to do it dry/semi-dry? And what was your outcome?

Sorry, I mean I've already painted and polished the car. I had waited 40 days in-between before applying anything to the car (besides dust)
The semi-dry polishing worked wonders no compound or polish. I used what I had...DoDo Juice lol worked excellent!
