Well it can pick up debris while you're swiping so even if you're very careful, it's just not worth it. Unless you don't care about scratching your car (like 90% of car owners who just put their car through a car wash).
I think you would do way more damage with a rag (swirls and all that). I would say only use the blade if your car was previously clayed and waxed.

Awesome, yeah compressors are the best. now you can throw out the water blade haha.

But if you don't have a compressor the best way is an electric leaf blower and a waffle weave microfiber towel. It won't scratch the finish, especially if you blot it dry without rubbing.

This is what I have:

http://www.amazon.com/Horsepower-Force-Bla...4597&sr=1-4 http://www.amazon.com/Horsepower-Force-Bla...4597&sr=1-4

It has tons of uses (drying carpets and floor mats, dusting after polishing, sweeping your garage, etc.) It dries cars really quickly and you don't need to use a towel after.

Just make sure that it's an oil-less compressor, I think the quiter oil lubricated ones can put oil into the airstream

The blade usually creates a small wave of water infront of it lifting of debris and unlike a cloth it doesn't trap debris in one location its best to just use it with one swipe across to remove the majority of the water then use another method to finish the job.
