I've just returned from a 12 day, 3700 mile trip and the car is full of bugs and road dirt. I'd like to remove all of the mess without too much damage to the underlying wax job my dealer did a couple months ago. How can I get the bugs off without scratching the wax job and/or paint?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm no expert. I can only offer the method I use: After washing the vehicle, I apply car wax and rub the bugs off. This seems to work for me as well as or better than tar and bug remover.

The best way is actually hot water and a good sponge. But as it takes a while there is a plethora of different products, all which will reduce the wax cover you have on your car. So whatever you decide to use, more than water, make sure you put on additional wax afterwards, just as goodman said.
