Anyone have a way to reduce the amount of brake dust on these wheels? I have never seen so much. I know the brakes are great on these cars, but is there some product that minimizes what clings to the rims?

I was even wondering, would Scotchguard help in some way???

Maybe butter??? (kidding about the below post).

Baron,
where u located??? I used factory european m3 2 piece front rotors, with performance friction carbon metallic pads all the way around, and I would challenge just about any setup you just mentioned to out stop my car. ZERO brake fade and no more warped rotors. Oh, and if you get the pads at Autozone, they lifetime warranty them!!!! Though you'll never need it... they don't wear our or make dust.
i have used these pads on all my cars, even my F250 plow truck, they simply do not wear out or eat rotors. i highly recommend them, besides you could try them and throw them out and you still would have only spent around $130 for front and rear pads total.
if you can't find them, let me know i'll help you out getting a set.

reach me at rpmgsxr@hotmail.com

good luck,
bob

from bmw-forums.com

"get some EBC green stuff pads. great performance and they are dustless. ive done about 10-20 brake jobs on mostly E36's and on my car ive done about 2 brake jobs, they are quite simple (however im using impact wrenches and whatnot so it makes time fly).

ive used pagid, and didnt like them that much, im currently running some pads (which i cant remember the name of for some reason) but they are pretty damn good, very minimal brake dust and the fade and control is pretty good."

I think the brake ducts a very good for the brake performanve. No fading on my car during high speed repetetive brakings. The ducts really helps cooling the rotors.

It?s a big difference from my previous car ( M5 without brake ducts ). On the M5 I had warped rotors and fading all the time.

I can live with the dust and that I have to clean the wheels more often.

dust shields as shown in the first reply lead to disc rotor overheating, I ruined a set of front rotors on an E30 M3 about 15 years ago with them!

I just clean with wonderwheels and use zymol wax on the rims.....very easy to clean after waxing...dust just hoses off usually

Wax on the rims are a really good idea! I have always used that too. It?s soo easy to just wash off the brake dust with water.

I never thought about waxing the rims. Good call.
