One of my friends just purchased an 06 lease return interlagos blue M5. I was amazed the price he was able to pick it up for.....The car was a 13K year driver, and it had 39K on the clock. It is fully loaded and he got it for $46K! What the! I have an 07 that i purchased brand new and i cant believe the car has tanked that much! That being said. The car is in great shape and I want to give it a good detail. Any recommendations on what is a good wax/polish for that color? Does any one recommed waxing or polishing or both? I just want to make that color look better than show room condition! It it works well, i will do the same for my indianapolis red M5. although my car only has 6800 miles on it

Wow! Nice pair!

Sorry can't tell the exact product. How about Zaino product family?!

Definitely polish it with a DA or rotary buffer.

What is your budget for the wax?

Menzerna for polish, without question.

Wax - Depends on how much you want to spend. Swissvax is considered some of the best. Here is their product list: http://www.swissvax.com/E/US/Produkte_Lack3.htm

If price is no issue, go for the Divine for $2,500. You get 200ml for that. Hahahaha! A few members on this forum use Divine.

I'm a HUGE fan of Blackfire.

I would have embedded the pic, but this site won't let me embed dynamic links.

That a crappy cell-phone pic of the reflection off the hood of my other car (black) at dusk. That's factory paint with ~10k miles on it, and in that picture, it had only been washed, clayed, and polished. No clear coat protectant or wax on it yet. Oh, and that was all doen by hand. No DA/orbital.

Check it out here.

I don't think there is any reason to go crazy on wax (ie: $1000 wax). Many great products for around $10 to $50 that will be stunning. Making Blue hues really stand out I find can really be hit or miss with waxes and sealants. Some good ones for that color tone would be ClearKote Carnauba Wax ($20), Wolfgang Sealant 3.0($30-$35), and PoorBoys Natty Blue($20). Want to go OTC I'd grab some Meg. NTX 2.0 does a great job and helps fill in imperfections slightly. Doesn't last long though.

One wax that is excellent on blue and black is Pinnacle Sourveran Paste, but cost about $70 to $90.

If your not doing a full detail (ie: paint correction). Try using Poor Boys Black Hole glaze($15 to $17) after you clay the car and top it with one of the above products and that M5 will look stunning without laboring over it for a day.

Good luck.
