I have always just run my vehicles through the automatic car wash (brushless) when I don't have time to really wash them by hand.
I get my new 545i next week, any concerns about this? Will the pressure or chemicals they use damage the paint?

DONT DO IT!, I own and operate a Mobile Detailing Service in Southern California and If you look at my website @ www.innovativedetailing.com you tell me would any of those cars go to a car wash? Not! Stick with a Mobile Service or do it yourself by hand. Going to the car wash is like taking your car to the "Butcher" or a Hacker! Give it the proper TLC and take my reccomendations.

It is recommended not to do it especially to a brand new car. Bring your car to a car wash that does hand wash.

Dont go to a car wash!!!!!!!! Totally agree with Innovative, Car Washes beat the hell out've your paint plus they use harsh acid wheel cleaners which will eventully eat away the clear coat on your wheels. Ive been in the detailing business for 10 years so listen to us detailers. Use Hand Car Washes or find the time to do it yourself.

Not all of them are bad!
The one I use is better than a hand wash!

Go for manual car wash only. Very much recommended than machine wash.

I was thinking about using the free car wash (on Saturdays) at my dealership. But they use an automatic carwash machine, so that's bad, right?

There are probably more BMWs washed with the new automatic machines than owners realize. Just inspect your vehicle well before you drive away.

I also put a big "please do not wash car" sign on the dash, and my service advisors are also reminded when I drop the car off, and they add it to the work order.

Those dealer "complimentary" car washes remind me of economics 101: there's no such thing as a free lunch... .
