I won't bore you with my technique, developed over 43years ,only to say that there are many similarities with your own. However,I would add one valuable tip to all you "hand washers",do not use a high pressure washer if you intend to keep your car for more than a few years.Yes,it does speed up the job when the car is covered in winter grime and road salt (here in the UK),but only if it is all wet before you use a pressure washer- they are useless on dry dirt.
The main disadvantage is that they force water into cavities and panel joints, the result being rust appearing well before it should!

Anal, for sure. The cars look great, but you have got to be kidding with the prep, products, time. What happens in two days when it rains or snows!!!
I get comments from my neighbors that I am always polishing and polishing but the procedures here are beyond comprehension. It's a car, subject to the environment. Turn the key, drive it, get some dust on it and enjoy it.

Yeah, just Connecticut I guess. Multi-buckets, leaf blowers, shop vacs, 15 liquids and towels, and hours on end to wash a car strikes me not only as anal but bordering on insane. Guess I just don't have that lofty Eurpoean sophistication.

Please share your method.
I know I'm anal whatever it comes to keeping the paint as good as possible.
If I wash the car "as fast as possible" and less carefully I usually manage to marr the paint.
Besides, this is detailing forum. What can you expect?
Hmmm.... I think the previous post is another example about the "new spirit" of this forum

Wow. I thought I got crazy with cleaning mine.
I just use Zep auto enhance wax/wash with water. Rub it on the car with a microfiber cloth.
pressurewash off with heated water.
Dry the car with a high quality chamois cloth.
and detail it with meguiars auto detailer.
even a few days later when it gets a little didrty/dusty. after using a california car duster.
and everyone I know is always saying my car is so rediculously clean.
and I steam clean the interior once a month, and clean and moisturize the leather every 3 or 4 months.
