Phil (FMINUS) told me about Victoria Wax. I bought it and used it after I did my detail job. And yes, a rotary buffer is better than a random orbital, but there's a higher chance of burning the paint, if you aren't careful or familiar. I think after a few more detail jobs, I'll dump the RO and move to the Rotorary Orbital.

After I wash, I use Z8, but I shouldn't. I'm going to buy a few bottles of Z6 instead. It's cheaper and does a great job too. I used to have both bottles when I was hooked on Zaino.

You apply it by hand and buff it off. I only did 2 coats by hand, but probably could have done 3. The cool part is, when you order it, they engrave your name on the lid. Hahahaha! I felt so special when I got it, but then again, it's not cheap stuff.

Looks good ... thanks for the in-depth details on your detailing.

How did the final polish work out using the orange pad? I find the orange pad to be great on the first cut, but I typically step down to a white or blue pad on the final polish to get it mirror-like.

I missed that in your process. You definitely should use the blue, grey or red pads for your finishing touch. Orange has too much cut in it. If I were you, I would relay down another coat of finishing polish with a Blue pad and then lay another coat of jetSEAL109 with a Grey pad. I say this because I know you just bought the Victoria Wax and this is a process. You want what's underneath the wax to be perfect. Trust me, like tachyon said above, your mirror like finish will be even better.

No that is not bad, since it is a newer car and all the electical components are insulated. I mean what is the difference in spraying the engine at the spray wash with the high powered spayer?
The difference is that with a PW, most of it is air, so it uses about 80-90% less water. Using a hose is not a good idea, but is not as dangerous as some would think (just be careful)

Hey guys, I'm new here and I stumbled across this detailing thread - interesting process, but have you done a full detail before?

Unfortunately I don't have an E60, but I have worked on a few E60s - I own an E34. Wonderful hauler.
Also, kudos on the previous members' pictures from the detail thread in your sig. Gorgeous! Good to know theres a resident expert.
I've got a detail business of my own, and I love every minute of it. We're a rare breed, aren't we?
