Should have posted this up a couple of months back.
Just turned 5 months into fatherhood malarky and this is the first free time I've had to have a good look at my daily driver. This detail was spread over the 3 days at bank holiday - I still had to dash of to fulfill my duties (nappy changing et all
The car was bought new last year, a 535d - Now has 27K miles on it (nearly all motorway) and has suffered some inevitable stone chipping on the front valance and leading edge of the bonnet. This PC session was going to be a light dusting using finishing pad mostly. I corrected a stone chip on the lower valance as it was quite easy to remove.
I've had mixed success with German Paint + Menz 302. This time around, maybe conditions were right, the two corrections I needed to do worked perfectly!
Box of goodies
The products
Day One
The car is washed weekly and so it was fairly clean and no photos. The wheels had been treated with Autobrite Tar & Glue removers to get the inside rims nice and clean. The lower body was treated with Megs Super Degreaser and Megs Hyper Wash.
Day Two
Onto clay time, so I wanted to make sure the paint work was as clean as possible so clay first and then a quick wash with some snow foam.
Onto a quickly claying using Megs detailing spray to lubricate
Most of the tar had been removed using Tar remover, however there was an odd green hue to the clay from the fall out on the bonnet, the photo didnt really pick it up.
The roll the car out ready for a wash
Dont you just love Snow foam:-)
Let it dwell for a few minutes - Luckily the air temp was quite low so dwell time was a bit longer (about 5 minutes).
Then a quick rinse
A quick look at the state of the paint - Water isnt beading nicely.
Oh dear - Some fairly difficult water/chemical stains to remove from the High Gloss Shadowline (B pillar). This could be a pain - I had tried pretty much every chemical in my repetoire to remove the stains - to no avail, so this would be a job for Menz 302 and 4" pad.

Roof line didnt look much better
I decided to go for the quick and easy win, so the High Gloss Shadowline was first to have some treatment. Here's a 50:50 (RHS was first)
Pleased with the result - And then repeated on passenger side
So onto the PC action, using Menz 302 and a lakeland finishing pad for 99% of the car. All I aimed to do is get the surface ready for the Carlack 68 and Collinite topping.
This took longer than I expected, but the results looked worthwhile
I was called back in to assist, and so ended day two.
Day Three
Not exactly recharged (interrupted sleep & all that) and the weather was dreadful outside so I was still confined to the garage with the door shut I aimed to get the rest of the car finished.
A minor correction on the drivers side wing
Afterwards
The front valance (4" Yellow pad)
And afterwards

Quite pleased with the way the wheels turned out
And Einzett Glas Polish really does the business
Aerial photo
And obilgatory beading photo.....;-)
Comments as usual welcome. See my previous attempts here on detailingworld

Cheers for the feedback - Menz works really well on BMW paint.

Great job man. I love series of detailing pics. Your Audi pics are also nice. I wish I had a garage and the equipment you use to enjoy the car even more.
