Would you consider 109 miles new???
#1
Well the dealer called in my 530 finally made in from Conn. (Dealer transfer down here to Florida). I asked how many miles were on the car and the rep indicated 109. I kinda feel like a guy that just married a girl and she says" tried doing ?IT? once or twice and didn't like it."
The question is, technically is this still a new car and how/should I push for discount? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

FYI . . . The car was built 6/28 so I assume its been on the lot 2 or 3 month

I wouldn't worry about it. It may have been over revved a bit, but apparently a lot of cars that have been above the break-in limit function OK for years. One thing you know is that it hasn't been set on cruise control for a long time during the break-in period. Bottom line, again, is that I wouldn't worry that much.

I picked up my E60 with 140 km on the clock and had no issues with that level of driving. As JDN said, not enough miles to worry about and extended cruise control drive.

Sounds like it's been test driven a few times. I'd be a little concern if it's a manual; other wise, see if they'll knock some off and change the oil. It will be had press for a dealer to trade a car with less than 10 miles on the clock. Mine had 40~ miles on it, and was test driven twice while I was looking around before I bought it.

For full maintenance and warranty, make sure the inservice date is the date you signed the papers. Don't let the dealership say it was put in service when the speedometer was at 2 or 3 miles which would push your warranty back. Just a thought.....

I'd worry more if it were an M5...a 530 with 109 miles should be fine. Look at it this way, your warranty is like 4 days shorter than if it were brand new...

Unless you are getting a good discount ($1-2K) you should pass on this car. A new car should be new (2-3 miles). Anything could've happened during those 109 miles; from a small accident to a major engine abuse. You have no way to know it. Why take a risk?

This car is not new to me. Did you know about the miles when you agreed to buy it? If so, than its ok. If not, I would ask for a discount. If it were the other way around, they would take something off. It could have been red-lined 10 times already while out on test drives. I know when I test drive cars, i push them to the max. Most likely this isnt a big issue, but if you can save some $$ why not. Ask for free sat radio or something...
