My Ride: SOLD...Jet Black 2008 550i M Sport with SAT, black interior. RPI exhaust and air scoop, 35% huper optik tint all around, CF roundels, flat black kidneys, Springfield Armory XD-40 jet black in glove box, charcoal filter removed.
Remember I took my 550i sport in last week and they gave me a 528i with no iDrive. Well my wife took her X5 in today for a SES light and they gave her a 2010 535XI. so i took it to take my daughter to cheerleading practice tonight. Everyone with a 535 relax, not trying to steal your thunder hear...BUT...its no 550i sport. I mean its fast, fun to drive, actually a blast to drive since its a loaner, but it DOES NOT have the pick up nor the butt dyno power of my 550i - not a chance.
The biggest difference, other than raw power, was on downshifts in manual mode. My 550i rev matches and you can feel it grab and kick down into gear with the power right there. I use this to slow down sometimes. In the 535XI, I downshifted and felt nothing.
Also, the new 2010 iDrive is quite different from my 2008. Not sure if like it or I'm just used to the version I have. I like iDrive in general, so I'm sure I could get used to the new version.
I'll right more of my review later.

A 535xi loaner is a terrific car for a loaner. I'd love to get one as a loaner. I've gotten a 335xi and a 335i and a 528i but never a 535.

Tell me about it. I couldn't beleive that's what she got.
As I think about it, and before I get torn apart for this, I do realize that the 535 is an all wheel drive, heavy, and is not a sport version. But still, the 550i with the RPI exhaust is just so freakin' cool - sound, power, speed. The 535 just didn't have it. Although, as I said about the 528i loaner i had last week, when its a BMW its fun as hell to drive and I'd be happy with just about any of them if it was mine.
Those of you with the new iDrive does it drive you crazy that the next page icons come up even when you don't need them, i.e. no other pages, or that when you roll to the bottom of a list, like radio presets, it doesn't automatically roll over to the top - you have to roll back up to the top? Geez, come on, they could have made that functionality pretty easily couldn't they?

They OBVIOUSLY find your wife more attractive and rewarded her with a premium loaner car!!
Obviously, those bastards.
Well, she did buy her vehicle there, and I wondered and bought this one in Wisconsin, so....at least they gave me a loaner at all right? Although I did buy my 330XI from them.

If my dealer started handing out 535s or even 335s as loaners, I'd find something wrong with my car every week. When my car goes in for service I get to drive Sonatas, Impalas, Fords, and occasionally an X3 or a 328xi.
