For an oil change. Mine has 3K on it, bringing it to the dealer Fri, $70.- Seems very reasonable compared to some of the other posts I've read here.

Wow, that is great price.
make sure you ask them to use the fully synethic oil.
Price might be higher, but worth every penny.

This is so call in-between maintenance or mid-cycle maintenance,
you do hav to pay for this one.
BMW pays for the one that occurs above 10,000 miles.

I had my oil/filter changed at 3K miles, cost $113. I would expect labor to be more here in CA than other areas, but that's a very low price. The parts alone (synthetic oil & filter) were around $56 (after 10% BMWCCA discount).

Are they using synthetic oil & changing the filter element? The V8 uses 9 quarts, perhaps that's also part of the difference.

$70.00 isn't bad for an oil change with synthetic oil. You might be able to get it a bit cheaper, but it's nice have the dealer track all your maintenance. Plus they can advise you on recalls, and software updates etc.

Same in Europe - at least where I am - three years free maintance (or up to 80000km max), standard for all new BMW's.

It's because this owner chooses to change his oil well in advance of the required schedule - 3K miles vs. recommended 15K. If he wishes to change more frequently than necessary, it's on his nickel. And I am defining "necessary" as per factory recommendation; no moral judgment here.
