Does anyone yet have any definitive authoritive information on the new colors/options changes for the new 550 ? I am planning to do ED on this car in mid November and want to start getting the order ready >) My dealer has no info (to share ) at this point.

If I remember right they told me 6-8 weeks.

ED cars do not come out of the dealers alotment so you should be able to get a good deal. If you are leasing expect to pay a premium for at least the first few months after the release of the 550i. You may already know this but I thought I would share. I plan on doing ED of a 550i next May or so depending on how everything goes.

My dealer figures he will see details next week Tuesday (July 26). He says BMW typically needs final orders placed by the 28th each month, so he thinks they will give them a couple of days to place orders by July 28 for September production.

I plan to catch up with him later this week just to see if he knows anything more yet. I can't wait to see what's in and what's out.

 

I have heard that there has been a delay in the production of the 550i (at least for the North America market). Don't know how solid this info is - can anyone confirm, deny?

From what I understand, part of the reason for the delay is the BMW factory production capacity for the V8 engine used in the X5, 7er and now the flagship 5er. There may be some concern that they may not be able to meet the demand to fill the new 550i orders for dealer allocation.

 

Even if there is a delay, it's not changing anything known about the 550. If I do go for new (still waiting on 545 possibility), it's probably just a short delay.
