My Ride: 2007 530xi - Silver/Gray, Gray Leather, 6 SP Manual, Premium, Sport, CW, CA, Shades, Logic7
Default

Well, thanks to everyone for all the great input and advice on my "sedan vs. wagon" thread.

I can't believe I just committed to spend this much money on a car, but I just placed the order:

530xi sedan
Alpine white/Gray leather/Dark Poplar
6 sp manual
Premium
Sport
Cold Weather
Logic7
Window shades

Delivery is estimated somewhere in mid-late October.

Wow! I've been considering a BMW purchase for almost a year now. I started out looking at the 325xi wagon. After obsessing with the E90/E91 for awhile, I finally decided it was simply too small for me and my needs. Considered a lightly optioned 525xi for awhile, then finally worked my way up to where I'm at now with the 530xi I just ordered.

Good thing I finally ordered - another few months and I probably could've justified an M5!

Quick question for you (that I didn't ask myself). Given that you considered the wagon and you have kids and a family, perhaps you should consider also getting the split folding rear seats for another $475 MSRP?

Congrats. Nice choice on the Alpine!!! IMHO, wagons are cool but really how practical are they? I mean SUVs are everywhere and they ain't hauling nothing. Just brats. Stupid. Make your kids happy by getting a pool.

If your getting a bimmer, the sedan makes real sense cause you can really have fun driving it. Another vehicle should be the hauler, the one for the ugly stuff. Not the bimmer.

My three cents.

Yeah - I definitely considered it, but I really thought about how many times I've folded down the seats in my current car, and I literally think I've done it perhaps two times in the three years I've had it. And one of those times involved loading up Elfa closet supplies in my car, which, to be honest, I wouldn't want to do in the 530 anyway.

I'll borrow the wife's SUV for hauling duties as the occasional need arises.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

My Ride: 07 BMW 525i Premium Package, Xenon Lighting Package, manual Transmission. Titanium Grey, 20% Tint around the back, 70% V-Kool on front. Planned mods: Style 71 wheels with Toyo Proxy 4 tires, Sachs suspension upgrade, upgraded stereo, and many more to come.

Congrats!
Notice you are getting the manual, cool!
Did you have a chance to test drive a manual?
my main complaint about the car is how hard it is to get a smooth shift
the shift and the clutch travel are waaaaaaay long
i miss the shiftin feel of my 6 years old accord...
