I am only a lurker here (bought 911 instead) and it's been awhile since I followed price/lease info on this, but both numbers appear to be high.
My fairly loaded 545i (and I realize it's not the same money factor/lease deal or car) came out to around 740 a month (???) if I recall correctly.
I am extremely leary of any deal where "they" are "forcing you" to pick it up "TODAY". Say no until you get more info from this forum and make sure that that monthly payment is justified.
There are various sites where you could do calculation yourself: for example www.leasecompare.com (I am not affiliated with nor endorsing it.). There is also an edmunds.com forum where they disclose lease info on all car brands, including BMW.
Hope this helps. Again, I am not sure whether the payment is good/bad, just want to make sure you get appropriate info before deciding.

How long is the term?

That's not a bad deal if its for 36 months (relatively speaking). I got the 550 at the base rate of 2.6 or .00260, which is a high rate in general (but what are you going to do).

Just 1st payment and bank fee up front (sec waived).

MSRP was $64,970, capped at $62,970.

Payment before tax is $947/month.

With that, sounds like you got an additional $500 bucks off or so ($2500 discount) and you're getting the base rate as well.

Unfortunately, that's what is killing the deals on the 550 a bit is the rate and the hohum residual (59% for 12k).

The 525/530 deals are good now because the buy rates a very low.

But ignoring all of that, the dealer is giving you a fair deal given the facts.

I can't say the numbers look good or bad without a bunch of math I'm not interested in doing right now but it sounds like the dealer is trying to unload inventory to keep any post Wilma insurance claims down. I suppose you can't blame them for trying to do that but it might give you an opportunity to get them to discount things some more.

See if they're willing to drop the price if you pick it up this weekend vs. next week. If they're not willing to discount, tell them you'll pick it up sometime next week to reduce your risk...

The 530i is a pretty nice car as well.

The 3 litre sixinline is a fine engine and I suppose the most popular version of the E60 in Europe.
This engine is one of the best of the market. It is extremely smooth going, only next to a V12.

The car is fast enough and will save you the 200 bucks a month + the money you will save on gas (and nature).

Suggestion - see what Costco can do for you on the pricing. Either that or Autobytel.com. You'll save a few grand.

The 550's residuals from the BMW webpage aren't as solid as what I got for my '04 530.

I was going to upgrade to the 550 next year but decided to keep the 530 for the term of the lease. I have a manual and after a year have become pretty happy with the I6, especially after having the CDV removed and disabling DSC (both tips courtesy of the fantastic info available here). If you keep the rpm high there's enough zip for me and as you say it's very, very smooth. I often wonder how it would do with a supercharger.

It gets 35 mpg on the highway as long as you're below 80, not that mileage should matter that much for cars this expensive.

Anyway, the new plan is to replace it with the 530 awd wagon plus a Porsche Cayman.

What is the purchase price they are giving you on each of these cars? There is still a purchase price on a lease. The lower the price, the lower the lease payments.

What money factor are they giving you? Check out my lease rate post at http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=17437 and plug all your data into a lease calculator like the one at http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm.

There are two things that you want to check for a good deal on a lease:
1. How close is your purchase price to the invoice price (same as buying a car)?
2. How close is your lease payment to the theoretical minimum using the base lease rates (using info above)?

Other than that, you're at the mercy of the residual value & money factor base rate and that's something you have no control over if you've decided on the cars. In general 3rd party lease companies will never beat BMW.

Post a followup in my lease thread if you have questions.

With the price of gas, get the 530.
