I wouldn't let that guy touch your car again! I'd insist on a full refund and payment for any and all damages he incurred upon your vehicle. Then take it to a place that knows what they are doing! Or, get an estimate from your BMW dealer on the damage and the cost to fix his mistakes, and make the guy pay you that amount as remuneration for his ignorance and carelessness, and then let BMW "finish" the job he started.

I guess you should have done more homework on springs installers in your area. My guy did a great job, and along with the DIY from KU530, they had zero problems installing them.

Make sure you keep us up to date on the outcome!

FYI, for those of you who missed the original thread to this poor guy's disaster, check here: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=46295
I will keep you updated with the outcome.. I would not be able to reply this thread until the end of the day coz i'll be in the shop, watching the guy repair my car... Thank's for all of your input.. This forum has been very helpful...

that's what happens when the installer doesn't know what he's doing. Ask the shop to pay for everything the dealership will charge you to fix whatever they mess up.

+1 - I wouldn't let that shop touch my car again...using force on suspension components is never a good thing and an obvious sign that you don't know what you are doing, aren't using the proper tools, etc.....I'd cut my losses with that shop, have the dealer fix it right and bill the shop.

Good luck!

Man, just don't let anyone do your car. Get a real professional. That's what you get for trying a cheap shop.

I paid 450 for the installation alone.. that;s not considered a cheap shop...

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.

Wow, I'm coming into this conversation a little late... But the installer hammered the CA? Huh, guess he didn't know about pickle forks, and what their made to do. They are made to bang the hell out for the tools and not the components of the car. There is always a right tool for the job... Speaking from experience. The clip your referring to is called a spring retention clip - and well that has its purpose also. Personally I'd ask how many parts were left in a tin can once the installation was done.

What do you mean with a clip? Is that what you called a guide?

I agree on that, but the reality is that this shop will ask for the chance to make the problem right, before the OP can press for damage claims. Unless the OP is willing to get an attorney, it will be hard to get the original shop to simply pay another shops bill to repair their damages. Sucks, but I dont see an easy solution..just hope they didnt break anything and can fix it up right. Gluck
