Guapu2001:
Welcome to the forum. I do not have split seats and have not missed them. I could see where putting skis through there would be helpful. I have the roof rack system, I put stuff up there. Hope this helps

I've been pleased with the size of the trunk. I went from a mom-o-bile piled up with baseball bags and other family accessories to this car and I was worried about the space we were giving up. So far we haven't missed it (although we probably won't do much vacation traveling in the car). Anyway, if I was ordering, I would have gotten the split seats. Is there any reason besides cost not to? I'm not sure of any negatives to having them. I'm sure someone will post it if there is. They were #4 on my list after Premium Package, Nav, and Cold Weather. I found a car with the first 3 and stopped there!

e60 is my first car without a split seats. So far I don't have the need to use it, but winter is coming, I don't know what should I do with my snowboard.

I had a 3000GT before with a a very small trunk, but with split seats I can carry more bags and boxs than many bigger sadens.

If you don't care the few hundred bucks, get it. At least one day you won't say "sh*t", I should get it when I have the chance.

This is actually the only "must have" option for me.

I got the fold down seats and was happy with it. Used it twice. Both times to fit my bike. I use the fold down seats about three times a year, on all the sedans I have had. It helps out when I don't plan on buying something and yet see something I like and buy on impulse (kinda how I got the 545i). I use the extra space. The 545i trunk is the biggest in the current gen of luxury cars in it's class.

Sorry I got the fold down rear seat.
There is an annoying vibration noise coming from the head rest which contains the fold down switch every time I go over the smallest bump.

A must have option for me.

I almost thought twice about it as I had one salesman tell me that they rattle. I have never had a rattle or noise coming from the back seat.

I have an SUV when I really need to haul big stuff. But I seem to find a need for them about a dozen times a year where I prefer not to take the big boy. When you need the space, you need it.

I don't have/need the split rear, but it would be fine to have provided there are no negatives--like rattles mentioned above, lack of comfort, lack of aesthetics, or loss of center console.

I've had the fold-down seats on my last three 5ers. Can't live without them, never had a rattle, and there seems to be no sacrifice in comfort.

I use them all the time when I'm transporting packages that are taller than the trunk. I'm sure most people would just put these types of packages on the back seat but for me, I feel better being able to protect the seat and use the fold-down option...
