Is there any specifics for "rolling fenders."

I have heard about this process but, am uncertain as to what it means exactly.

Does it involve bending of the metal fenders? Afterwards, is it visible from the exterior? Is there risk of paint damage? Warranty issues? Dealership issues?

When having the process done, do you request an amount of roll... meaning, do you roll an inch, two inches?
If the shop you take it to knows what they are doing then you shouldn't have to worry about your paint cracking, but then again, shit does happen sometimes. The shop I take all my cars to has a gizmo that attaches to the wheel hub with an adjustable arm and some kind of a roller on the end. They heat up the area to be rolled then go back and forth with the roller little by little with somebody following the arm with the heat gun to maintain the higher temperature so the paint doesn't crack. This whole process is basically bending the inner part of the fenders inward in order to provide more clearance. As I stated in the beginning, if the person performing this knows what they are doing, it should not be visible at all from the exterior; however, if the person doesn't know what they are doing, then you risk cracking your paint, getting ripples/dents on the outer fenders, and so on. Hope this helps.
