Having spent a month and a half getting used to it, I happen to agree with the other posts. SMG is great. But, if as I have, you always have driven a standard with a clutch, driving SMG will take some rewiring. Don't expect the rewiring to occur overnight. It does take a while. My hardest thing to learn was downshifting into a stop.

My 545 is also due in October. I hope the estimate is accurate. I want to be driving it during the fall before the Chicago winters set in. Good luck on getting yours in October also!

Jay Leno makes fun of SMGs in this week's AutoWeek. He says that's why he doesn't have an Enzo. I guess he won't be buying an M5. Not like he's short of cars.

Man, I'm pretty excited about my new car. I find myself surfing the web everday looking for any parts for the e60. I want rims but i probably only want to shell out 3500 max for 19's maybe 20's. I want nice rims but i don't want to sacrifice ride quality. As far as body kits, I think i will go with ACS front lip, sideskirts, and rear spoiler. Thinking about just keeping the stock rear since i don't really like the ACS rear that much. Any lowering kits out yet? Probably want to lower the car just a tad. Man, i cant wait!

That was a good read. Doesn't really make fun of SMG style transmissions though, just that he prefers manuals.
