Hi all, can anyone dealing with BMWFS answer this for me: Is my lease residual the number that BMWFS will consider as the used vehicle purchase price and if so, are they willing to negotiate around this number with me?

When I was signing the papers, I also asked this same question. I was told that the price is negotiable depending on the market. If the vehicle you have isnt in extremely high demand (thus the selling prices aren't very high), you have some room to deal with them.

I'm anxious to find out as well. My lease is up at the end of November and I'd love to keep my car.

+1.... if I can't negotiate a palatable purchase deal, then me and my "60" are going into the witness protection program!

BMWFS actually contacted an individual on this board (I believe this board, if not another BMW board) and offered them quite a bit lower price then his residual. So its for sure negotiatable.

When the time is approaching I'd post on here asking what current auction prices are going for. That will give you an idea of what you should be paying. Obivious being your own car and you know everything about it you should expect to pay a little more then auction rate but nothing crazy like 5K more.

BMWFS uses Manheim Market Report as reference for the market value of Lease return cars. This value would be the amount that they will probably use as reference on how much they will be able to sell you the car. Manheim Market Report is actually a collation of the result in the auction done nationwide. This is also breakdown into State and Region. This is usually a lower figure than your residual value.

for sure I will let you guy's know. I actually spoke briefly with bmwfs, about my situation, and they said I should first speak with my dealer about my intentions. I guess that will be ground zero.
