Hi all,

I picked up my 535d Touring today and the 120 mile drive back home was tremendous, and I mean bloody brilliant.

I thought i was pleased when I picked up my 745i but this wasn't different class. The 745i is a big and quick car but it never flet quick whereas this feels like driving a sports car.

I have to say the dealer, Wood of Bournemouth, were very slick too and didn't bore me with tedious handover rubbish.

One thing came to light on the drive home, the voice control is not working. It has Bluetooth and Nav Pro so I was expecting it to work. Am I wrong?

I will post some picture up when the sun comes out.

Cheers

Nick

Congrats Nick! You'll learn to love it even more as you get to know it!!

As far as the voice control, I'm surprised it doesn't work but there are some settings in the software to activate it so maybe the dealer messed something up during the PDI?

You need to order the extended voice control option to obtain voice command for the nav and entertainment features. This is not part of the nav pro option. You should be able to use the voice control for the bluetooth though.

I believe the extended voice control can be retrofitted by the dealer but I'm not sure if this has been done successfully yet in the UK.

It can be retrofitted. Flowerfred has done it succesfully at his dealer. I believe there were some problems and he couldn't drive his car for one or 2 weeks. CCC broke down as far as I can remember. But retrofit is definately possible. I have had it done to my car too and it works like a charm.

Congrats!

I also used to have a 745Li b4 getting my 545i... they are two totally different beasts... but you're totally right though... the 5er feels like driving a sports coupe while the 7er is a fast cruiser mobile.

taking turns in the 5er is bliss! really like driving on rails... even compared to my fiancee's z4, i think my 5er is more composed in turns.

you'll probably miss the auto-trunk closer though... along with the soft-close doors.... and the rear leg room... but that's about it!
