I can still make changes in my order. I at first didn't think the $1,000.00 for the HUD was work it. I noticed most of the E60's responding have HUD. What do you think about HUD and should I reconsider?

My 2005 545i is built as of today and estimated to arrive in Chicago by October 1. Looking forward to a great ride. I went with the steptronic due to all the traffic in Chicago. I have driven the SMG and it is terrific. I am sure you will love it.

My Ride: 2005 545i SMG. Titanium Grey with Grey interior and Anthracite wood.
Well I hope our 545i gets here soon. My wife got in an accident in the Suburban this morning. Thank God for a big car. No one was hurt and the kids were not with here. The Suburban will be in a shop for over a month now.
Getting in an accident really makes me think why I am willing to pay good money for a car. I know that there will probably be a time when I will get in an accident and damage my new 545i, but it is only metal and we buy good, safe cars to protect the ones we love.
The only bummer is she now has to drive a rental until the Suburban gets fixed. I can only thank God for protecting her, it could have been much worse.
I took pictures if anyone is interested. I will have them tonight.

With HUD you get voice activation for several other features. Maybe someone with HUD can go into more detail? I would have ordered it if it was available.
I would also add the automatic shades, mud flaps and with children , consider changing the interior to black.
Also, be sure to get black floor mats...don't get grey. Maybe even think about getting all-weather type mats. Way easier to maintain.

Once the order is in the BMW system, I was told I can watch the vehicle being built and know what stage of production the car is in.
On the internet timing, I found the website updates to be as much as a week out of date. If I were you, I would get the e-mail of my sales rep and make her/ him look it up on the BMW system every now and then, to get an actual up-to-date report. The sales rep could do worse than having to do a little computer check every week or two while waiting to deposit the huge commission on your fantastic car.
BMW needs to get their internet reporting closer to real time.

I am glad everyone was okay when the Suburban crashed. One of the reasons I went to BMW is safety. Of course, first was performance and luxury. But it is nice to have a car that is build solidly.
When do you expect delivery on your 545?
I can't wait but am forced to.
