I cant find any details in the catalog or web
The concerns I have is that I like to play with my own tire pressure, I dont want some stupid computer warning me etc.
Also does this mean the wheels have some sort of sensors in them like the Corvettes?
I am going to have HRE make me a set of DUBS so I am wondering how this system if the car even has it exists.
Can you turn it off completely at the dealer?
I hope I take delivery by Friday this week

The tire pressure sensors used in the E60 are not transponders mounted in each wheel. Instead, the system uses rotational sensors and only detect a significant loss of pressure. This type of system is found on many cars (especially SUVs) these days because it's very inexpensive to implement. The rotational sensors are already present due to ABS and various forms of traction control.
You'll be able to play with your pressures without any problems. Once you inflate the tires to your desired pressure, you simply initialize the FTM (flat-tire monitor) in iDrive and you're good to go.

I don't believe it has a tire pressure monitor. What the Flat Tire Monitor does is measure the rotation of the tires. As a tire looses pressure, it spins at a higher rate than the other three tires, thus setting of the FTM. You can set your pressure to whatever you desire, reset the FTM and it will not warn you until there is some meaningful change that affects the spin of a tire.
Rudy beat me to it! You should have no problems.

Ok so it has no wheel sensors and I can change my rims with no dealer vist, GREAT!
Can I turn the system off 100%?

Good question. I've never thought about disabling the system. As it works, it takes a radical change in tire pressure and therefore spin rate to set it off. The normal drop you experience over time requiring you to add air every so often is not enough to set it off since under normal conditions, all four tires experience this, so all four spin at a similar relative speed.

if one inflates same pressure to four tires, doesn't have to reset the ftm, right ?? it'll trigger the system when one or more have different pressure.? please correct me if i'm wrong .
