You could buy this 06 550i SPORT|STEP|MTECH|NAV|PDC|COLD WEATHER|LOGIC 7|CPO, Black Sapphire Metallic/Black Leather for much less $$$!!

+1. You could also pick up a used/loaded 2006 M5 with around 40-50K miles for low $40s. Obviously there is the risk factor of an expiring warranty but at the end of the day, you drive an M5 versus a 550i or any other E60 model. Of course you have to be wary of a wrecked or bought back car, but my point is that there are deals out there if you're willing to sacrifice mileage/years.

I personally would NOT do it even though I really wanted an AW car as well before I purchased my Titanium Silver. You may be forcing yourself into this purchase because it's modified the way you want. You could potentially be spending $10k MORE than what others are worth in this current market at the least... IF there are no mechanical/body issues..

A few comments in regards to the points that attracted you to this car:

- Is the paint edge where the white meets the black on the wheels not straight? Since there is no brand specified, you could be buying $600 crap wheels that were custom painted.

- The carbon fiber parts on the car, (front and trunk lip) are probably knock offs if no brand was specified. That means they could be as cheap as $400-500 together.

- What do you mean that if the fenders are rolled, then it was done right? To me that just means he was running wheels/tires that were too wide for the car.

- M pedals? JSPEED, a vendor on the forum that sells replica parts sells "M pedals".

- 38k Miles is pretty high for a year old car!!!

- Clean Carfax only means that any previous problems may not have been reported. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006...rfax_facts.html Please also google "Carfax fraud" and read a little.

IF none of these issues will dissuade you.. AT LEAST GET A PPI (Pre Purchase Inspection) from BMW and/or a third party mechanic.
You bought up alot of valid issues.... I just always roll my fenders on my 7 series and i know its the right thing to do.. alot of idiots dont...
the rims are painted nicely, but found out they are just cheap ASA rims once piece. and was painted.they arent the rims the guy ran on the car when he droove it..he put htem on and painted them to sell it...i would NEVER keep those wheels..
as far as an inspection goes..i would NEVER buy ANY car without an inspection from bmw.....

but none the less i have found 2 other stock 550s with low miles cpo for just under 9 grand less and will do the mods myself i think.....

all your input is much appreciated...
thanks fellas

I would say that is a good idea.
I bought my 545 completely stock. It is just really hard to tell if the work was done correctly, unless you are buying it from a friend/ someone who seems to know what they are doing.

Good luck with your purchase, you wont be disappointed at all!

I know I know ..you want a fancy car.

But there is something about me giving more than $20K for a used car. I need to be very desperate to do that. I rather buy something affordable but new. Hey it is all about opinions. I know we differ in opinions.

Yes I said it.

I agree with your comments except for the mileage. A 2008 could have been sold middle of 2007 and here in Chicago a lot of people will chose to live 50 miles away from work just to afford reasonable housing. 20K miles a year is not unusual anymore.

To add, I have also seen this car for sale in Wisconsin sometime in the summer. This makes me suspicious that either someone is desperate for money or something is wrong with it.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

I HAVE OWNED MANY 7 SERIES AND ALSO A FEW RANGE ROVERS BUT NEVER A 550 OR 530 WHICH IM IN THE MARKET FOR....
I LOVE THIS CAR AND WANTED TO GET PPL OPINON ON IT AND WHAT ITS WORTH?
ALSO ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT RIMS THOSE ARE?
KINDA LOOK LIKE HRE BUT CANT SEE THE BOLTS SO I DONT KNOW

I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A WHITE 550 05 530 AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I HAD PLANNED THATS WHY I AM SO INTERESTED

THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP...
HERE IS THE LINK

Those are not HRE's at all. They are not expensive wheels and were not painted very well. Not sure of the name of them since several people on ebay sell them to $1000 or less a set.

If you are in the market for a 550 then why would you also be in the market for a 530? A 535 is a much better bet and you can obtain an 09 535i with minimal mileage for the same price. You can duplicate that car very easily with a less mileage car. You can pick up an 08 535i for 29-35K and the put the remaining money into better wheels than what are on the 550i and since its a replica C/F lip they are expensive. You are dealing with a painted roof from someone else. Do you know how it was lowered? Shocks/Springs/Coils?

In my opinion I would not get too attached to that car. Be in control of your mods and start with a stock car. What this car has into it is not top notch.

Good luck but why step back to a 530i(nothing wrong to those 530i owners) when you are willing to spend 42K.

You get updated styling enhancements with the 08 535i or pick up a stock 550i. It's a lot of miles for an 08.

Also no premium package?

If I may ask how much were the 550's you found, and were they 06 or 07? I'm in the same boat you are and would love a 07 550 CPO but the pricing in my area seems much higher than yours.

A few too many variables on this car IMHO. Be patient.
