I just called BMW NA and was told that my car is in production and is currently in the body shop. I was assigned a VIN# and has a scheduled completion date of September 5th. I'm excited now and can't wait. It's not the same feeling I had when I bought the one I have now. Hard to explain but just knowing I'm getting the options I wanted originally and following the process is exciting.

So far so good with the one I have now but I still wonder everytime, and I mean everytime, I start the car is it going to start. I guess after all the times it didn't and the times it left me stranded for hours I still have some resentment towards the car, BMW and the whole experiance from inception. I guess what they say is true, what you don't know won't hurt you, so the next person that owns this car will have a fine car, I hope.

According to the 5 series 2008 brochure the xi is a bit faster but not by much. It's 5.6 seconds and the I is 5.7 seconds on the 0-60 scale. The 550 is at 5.5 seconds. These are all steptronic transmission ratings. They all change .1 second faster with a manual transmission. The 535xi is to be determined because the manual transmission is not out for this car yet.

My car is awaiting transport. If the ship does not fill up and sail most of us will be receiving our cars around the same time. I have a end of September, 1st week of October delivery scheduled.
