My brand new tires were 3.5 years old!

I bought a brand new set of Continentals for my 535xi 2008 staggered. Put them on last Fall and was taking them off recently and noticed the date of manufacture was more than 3 1/2 years old. So on the day I bought these they only had 2 1/2 years left on the manufacturer's warranty. The DOT states that this tire should not be driven after it is 6 years old (from date of manufacture). The tire dealership publishes literature saying they never sell tires over 3 years old; they say you should not drive this tire after it is 6 years old. But when I asked them why they sold me tires that had used up 3 1/2 years of the warranty period, without telling me, they just blew me off . Wow. Have any of you experienced this?

Seriously? I would be parked in front of their store telling ever customer that walks in what they did to you and to go somewhere else.
