Unhappy

I bought a 2007 530i with 26K miles, and I was looking forward to having the 30K miles maintenance so I could discuss maintenance schedule with service advisor and see what I could do to maintain my car. Well to my surprise all the 30K miles service called for was a visual inspection of fluids and belts, etc. My concern is mainly with long term realiability should I decide to keep the car after the 100K miles warranty (it is a CPO) expires. Does any one have info on high milage E60s?? the 04 should be reaching 100K. I am used to changing my oil every 5K miles and this 15K miles changes are making me uneasy about long term ownership. Does anybody else have this concern? Am I being out of step with time (New technology in lubricants, etc) If I change oil on my own, will it affect how the computer calculates quality of oil and extend service intervals??

My 07 530 has 80k now, and I've had no issues whilst following the normal prescribed service. Modern cars do not require the same maintenance schedules as our previous cars, thank goodness.

there is a guy who writes for the BMW magazine and he disagrees with the protracted maintenance schedule specified by BMW. he has published it before and will evidently provide it to you if you email him. i read about this on the bimmerfest site in the e60 thread. if you go over there and search this topic you should find that thread pretty easily. good luck!

My 04 545i now has 94k on it. Once my maint. package runs out, I wont be waiting the usual intervals to change fluids. I'll definitely be doing it more often, simply because it cant hurt. Keep things running fresh.
