Im going to test drive the M3 sedan next week. Its on the boat right now somewhere, so when its in my guy is going to call me. We can pay about the same, maybe less. So i dont know.. im really stoked though. I miss driving manual.. Joe thinks the other 7speed transmission is better if i get tired.. lmao.. or dont feel like driving stick. That never happened to me, so well see.. any thoughts?

In terms of sheer driving pleasure, the M3 has the 550 beat by a mile. But if you need room, you may be better off with the 550. Test drive it and see if it has enough room for your needs. It doesn't have enough room for me which is why I chose my 550 over a M3 sedan which would have been about the same money.

Both are great cars and I'm sure the M3 would be more fun to drive and have better performance but I'd prefer your 550 more for its sophisticated nature.

Good luck with the decision Mel.

kscarrol is in the same boat..and he ended up ordering an M3 with DCT...

poleposition went with an M3 as well IIRC (not sure if he has a coupe or sedan tho)

I think we've already talked about this...so you know what my vote is for...

Mel is this even a legitimate question? Of course you should get an M3 sedan with manual. NO DCT!!!!!!! NO! DON'T DO IT! NO! NO! NO! 6spd! DO IT!

DCT is always broken....laggy as fuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

6spd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope this clears things up

I LOVED both of my 550is but I REALLY LOVE my 2011 M3 Convertible. The M3 Sedan is awesome provided you can live with a lot less space.

If it's a daily driver, I'd personally go for the DCT rather than the stick shift. I love my 911's manual transmission, but it gets old in stop-and-go and bumper-to-bumper traffic. FWIW the difference between the interior volume on the E90 and the E60 is hardly vast - the E60 is only around 5% bigger. It's certainly not a night and day difference. It's trunk space which is more noticeable.

Good luck either way!
