My Ride: 2007 550i Saphire Black on Dakota Black with Anthracite Trim, 6-spd manual, Sport Pkg, HUD, Active Steering, Ipod Connect...
I am anxiously awaiting delivery of my 550i, expected 12/11. I attempted to have the M-aero kit priced into the MSRP like other options such as night-vision are (so it would only cost me an additional $35 a month on my lease payments) and was told that only $400 of the price of the parts and install would be residualized. Without the full amount residualized the kit will be costing me as much as $120 a month. Does anyone have any experience with the M-aero kit on a leased vehicle? A buddy of mine suggested that I may be able to get this done if I speak with the right people. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same thing happen to me. Only $400.00 of the kit residualized...Sucks...But being that I leased the car I had no other choice, my original payment would have been $788.00mo and went to $917.00 with the kit. Had to get it though because it makes such a difference. BMW thinks the kit will only have a $400.00 value after 3 years, what the hell is wrong with them?

Many non-essential options (night vision, HUD, ventilated seats etc.) generally have little % residual in the used car market.
Theoretically, BMW should also have lower residuals for certain exterior colors.

In Canada the M-Aero kit can be ordered as a factory option, as part of the M-Sport package. Just like any other factory option, it is added to the MSRP and residualize by the same percentage as the actual car. Any other aftermarket add-on's would be at their discretion - some of them won't even make its way into the lease so it is cash-up-front and remove-it-at-your-own-expense before you return the car.

if you pay full price for the M-AERO kit, don't forget to collect your original bumper. Its worth something, or at least its worth having your stock bumper instead of just giving it to the dealer. this is just a reminder i give my friends when they order the M-Tech at the dealer at time of purchase.
