The reality is that leasing is really just another form of financing.?

For example, while you may compare/contrast the monthly lease payment and MF to the interest rate and monthly payment when you finance a portion of the purchase price, there are no restrictions or conditions on outright purchase of the car (i.e., no mileage limitations, no excess wear/tear, etc.), nor can the outright buying cost change as a result of use (i.e., additional miles, etc.).

An individuals circumstance determine the correct decision to lease or buy. I do both depending.
Alas, the un registered Guest cannot accept this and is fanatically against the practice of leasing. I recall another post where another un registered Guest referred to lessees as glorified renters... Hmmm.

Unlike Hormazd, Guest does not appear to be trying to "justify" (from Hormazd's earlier post) to himself or others that leasing is the only option. Believe it or not, it may be advantageous from a tax perspective for some businesses to actually buy and depreciate a car as opposed to expensing a lease.
Also, there are some prospective buyers who cannot either depreciate a purchase or expense a lease because they don't own businesses or have jobs that enable them to take deductions for purchase/lease of a car. In these cases, it is important for them to understand the costs and differences between buying versus leasing a car. Hormazd's numerous posts appear to indicate his belief that leasing should be the only option.

Yes the depreciation helps,? I am depreciating one car and leasing two.? It just depends on how long you want to keep the car and how many miles you drive it.??

I did not really miss your point.? Situations vary. If it was a car I was keeping for 10 years I would pay cash.?? BTW I have never borrowed to buy a car.? I just assumed you were comparing financing to leasing.

The guest says your analysis is incomplete but then justifies leasing in his last two points.? ? Cars depreciate, if you can expense the monthly cost of driving it then leasing makes sense.? Also as this board will testify as desirable the E60 is ,? it is not a car you want to be owning out of warranty.? I owned my last car for 14 years.? I now run my own business and do not want the sudden costs maintenance.? I also do not want to borrow at high rates (corporate auto loan) to depreciate the vehicle and then have the stress and hassle of selling it.? Leasing brings me the advantage of predictable cost and I can drive a pink E60 with a 4 speed manual and don't have to worry about selling it.
