My Ride: 545i SMG with Limited Slip Differential

As some of you know, in December I brought the car to the dealer to retrofit the heated steering.
They worked 2 days without any success.
The car entered as "Steering Check ==> name of mechanic"
Obviously I didn't pay anything (and they were agree) and I went home without mp3 coding.



Yesterday I wrote to the man "For your curiosity, you needed only the coil spring and the coding. If I knew you weren't skilled enough, I would have asked exact informations on the forum and gave you everything on the plate: we all have the same problem: in case of necessity we have to help our dealers how to solve our problem"


Answer: "Since we aren't skilled enough, we ask you to apply to your forum's friends for everything you will need in the future. We are just waiting for the ?354 of the last job, then you can cancel our phone number and address. Happy new year, regards".

After not less than ?150k... Good service!

I was already thinking to change dealer, because they are 22 km far and I have another one at 4 km near my university.

Now I have to replace the gearbox and I already booked the job at the new dealer, but I didn't expect this behaviour.

Now I would like to answer "What should I pay for, removing of mp3 coding?" but I think I will avoid.

Any similar experience?

typical dealer... if they don't know what they are doing they get mad. so anyway.. you went to the dealer to have coding done and afterwards mp3 didn't work? they have to at least fix that! send a letter/email to BMW of Italy or germany.. where ever and complain. that is unacceptable!

If the new dealer won't re-encode it for free I will go to BMW Italy (15km). But unfortunately I don't have any invoice of mp3 retrofit. Or maybe by my key I can see all service jobs?

just explain the situation to them i'm sure they'll be interested to hear about your problems and do it for free
