My Ride: 2008 528i Titanium Silver built 03/11/2007, delivered 04/25/2007,
hey guys:
I just got my 08 528 and I'm really pissed at how much my insurance has gone up.
I've had license for 8 years and never an accident or ticket. (except damn parking tickets)
Wondering if anyone knows any good insurance deals, or wouldn't mind lettin me in on a ballpark figure of how much insurance should be. I'm considering switchin carriers
Thanks.

Welcome to LUXURY world and one of the most theft autos category(among top five- goes with the name-5 series)
My AAA agent said:
BMW as a whole comes under 5-most theft autos
Parts and services are very expensive and lot of times has to go to bmw/specialty bodyshop/services if needed
Some local auto mechanics/stores wont even touch these autos
If you hit something/someone , people will come after you because it is BIMMER( shows your status)
2008- E-60 is not is system yet, ins, quote has to be calculated manually ?
Some Ins. Co. are considered as subsidised / substandard. please check and make sure before you switch or get ins.
Good luck
AAA is good & I am happy with them

No cause for alarm people.
I too had a similar shock when I took delivery of my 2006 just over 2 years ago. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that the year designation is so far ahead - it bumps the car into the most expensive category (at least that's how State Farm explained it to me).
After the year caught up, I seem to recall the costs falling back to what you might expect to insure it. So, you'll have a year or so (at most) when it's bad, but it should fall dramatically.

I will second that. I took delivery of my 07 in early June and it dropped in the fall pretty dramatically. I also have a perfect record.

My '08 528i raised my policy from about $1000/year on my '02 525i to about $1150 for the '08. At first the price went to over $1400, but I called to complain and, after review, they advised that, because the '08 isn't in their system, they had to basically create a category for it, and "accidentally" over valued the car. I'm happy with the $150 or so increase as the car does have about 45 additional horsepower and is a much more valuable car. BTW, I have $1Mill in liability and uninsured motorist coverage (very important). Policy is through USAA.

My Ride: 2005 545i Titanium Silver Metallic / Gray / Steptronic / Sport Package w/ active steering, adaptive xenons, sport seats, 18" style 124 wheels / Logic 7 sound / PDC / Bluetooth / iPod Integration
My '05 545i that I recently purchased is costing me an additional $850, through AIG, which is only slightly below the cost of insuring my other two cars ('94 Camry SE Coupe & '98 Volvo V70 turbo). Not too bad for a luxury sport sedan that will do 150 mph.
