I've heard good things about Ben Thongsai, he i/was near Maywood and he is very active with the BMW CCA, specializes in E30's.

In the city, I go to Chicago Import Service on the northside, they are honest and do good work. Rate is $105/hr.
I heard Chicago Auto Center is good and so is Chicago Midwest Motorsports (I think that is the name..) they specialize in Porsche but also work on BMW's.

In the northern suburbs you have Fall Line Motorsports, Leo Franchi's place in Glenview, a place up in Lake Bluff, I can't recall the name...all are good, but not "cheap".

I used to go to a guy in the western suburbs, he charged $65/hr and would charge actual time, not "book" time. Unforutnately, he is now pro racing for Mazda.

Ouch $105 from an indy shop. Hopefully they don't jack up there part prices on top of it.

What does the dealers hit you up for down there for an hourly labor cost?

Barrington, IL

They used to be 2 miles from me they but they built a new place on the other side of town: They specialize in Porsche but also do plenty of BMW you can see them outside all the time.

Please do not go to Leo Franchi's place in Glenview. He's an interesting guy to talk to and knows his stuff but not only he's expansive he also doesn't do honest work on cars. I heard while back he had some financial problems and few of my friends did some work at his place and none of them were happy with the service they received. Something was suppose to get done but never was even though they got charged for the labor, wrong parts were put on my friend's M5 and shortly after repair problem came back. Sounds to me like Leo is not very honest when it comes to working on cars and it's all about making money.

Semeria Imports in Wheeling does good honest work.
Owner operated and charges actual time as well.
No mark up on parts either.
I've been going there for years.

Anyone know of any repair shops in the Western Suburbs (chicagoland area) ?
I need some suspension work, rim repair and paint work done.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
