I've had my 2008 535xi since May of this year. I haven't had any problems with it except some complaints with the slow ipod connection. I now have 18500 miles on my baby and it started to tell me that I needed service. Last friday I took it in to get its service and told them about a couple of other items to check on.
1st I was getting some road noise. 2nd I was now getting some noise in the front end of my car when i would hit bumps. 3rd My idrive would jump to one of my presets periodically. 4th I needed my heads up display moved up for better display.
Now that seems to be a lot for one service but nothing has been a major problem so it all just pilled on one another. After 4 days of service and the use of one of there X3 loaner, they called me to tell me what was done.
This was there response for each item.
"The severe road noise was coming from the rear tires being severely cupped on the inside. I replaced all 4 tires as per SIB 36 02 05.
245/40r18 93y
275/35r18 dun
New Tires!!! Even after 18500 miles on mine. Nice.
"Noise coming from front swaybar bushings. I removed bushings and lubbed them. I reinstalled bushings. Test drove. Noise was gone."
glad it was an easy fix.
presets changing without touching
"Verified complaint. Checked fault memory. no relevant fault codes stored. I swapped a good known MULF from another vehicle and the problem went away. I created a PUMA Case and was instructed to update the vehicle software to fix the swithching problem. I performed vehicle software to fix the switching problem. I performed vehicle software update that included programming CAS and initilizing steering angle sensor."
"Performed heads up display adjustment at maximum up position."
I do believe most of these problems any dealership would cover with no cost. After 18500 miles on a set of tires I was extremely surprised by the no cost of the tires.
Should I brag or is every BMW dealership this responsive?

It's ok to brag.
Keep in mind, however, that it's not the dealership (for the tire replacement), it's BMW NA - they even quoted the SIB.
But it does sound as if the dealership's workshop is thorough.

That's a whole lotta miles for only 8 months of ownership. How's the car been in the Utah Champagne Powder?

My Ride: 2011, X6 Hybrid . Alpine White , every option. 20" Conti' NON runflats,OEM trunk spoiler , LUX V3 AE's , HP Thunder Fogs , custom front bumper reflector delete........
I think that Dealers which provide great customer service need to be recognized here. It's easy to gripe and find fault but a good dealer is critical to the enjoyment of these cars ......... IMHO !

You totally need to brag. You've got one of the better dealers! Its a keeper! I suggest you write a thank you letter mailed in addressing the service manager and telling him the excellent service you received and you will certainly be returning for service. Trust me... the next time you walk in you'll be getting EVEN better service.
Congrats. I wish all dealers were like that...

It's great to hear the good news like this.
Too bad more of the happy Bimmers don't post their stories.
