you have a compartment there? is it an option again? also, what's the diff between the headlight switch pull out and tuck in? it's more like the mercedes thing.

That compartment is ther on German spec E60's.
The switch tucked in is simply out of the way. It seems this is made as a safety feature, that you don't crash your kneecap in case of an accident. I decided to leave it in there. It works and is out of the way.
