As well as a test drive at the dealers, I was fortunate enough to get an invite to Rockingham Raceway (BMW owned track) got to thrash the full range 1 series through M5, 6 and 7 series included the M3 CSL and Mini Cooper slaloms also. Fantastic, hoping to get an invite this year...benifits of having a leasing company and a corporate fleet.

Did many online research on BMW and MB. Went to the BMW dealer, test drive for 3 minutes, and 3 hours later, that baby is mine. Drove it home the same day.

Just a couple miles... thats all the dealer allowed for an 545 SMG on the lot. I didnt buy from that dealer tho. HEHEHHEHE

I knew I wanted an E60 V8 already so it didnt matter. I knew that theres no other car out there that can have a driving feel of BMW. So I cant go wrong. The looks are HOT so it was settled... The choice was between SMG and Steptronic and the short test drive with a SMG convinced me.

Voted "other." Test drove a 2004 545i 6 speed. Liked it, but went and got SMG without ever having driven SMG. First time was when picking up in Munich. A few people mentioned there would be a steep learning curve and boy were they ever right! However, no regrets whatsoever!

Did not vote as I am in an E63. But my storey is thus: None available to test drive, so 545 was closest. None of those when I first started looking so it was 530i first and it had HUD. After drive, got on dealer list for 645 at number 4. WHen my time came there was no HUD so I put off order. Finally got to test drive a 645 at a large dealer in the Seattle area while on travel. All that did was nearly break my resolve ot get HUD, but I stayed the course. After passing 5 or 6 opportunities to order in the 8 months from my first ordering opportunity the 6er was finally available with HUD and I ordered immediately. Ultimately 15 minutes in a 530, 15 minutes in a 645. Did not need anything more than that. I never had, let alone drove, a bimmer prior to this so it was an easy conversion for me.

I didn't test drive any e60s, I had never even seen one outside of photographs. I had an e34 and had owned BMW's since 1971. I called around California, found a model I wanted and bought it. No regrets.

I did multiple test drives before making final decision: First I tested 520iA, then 525dA over night and finally 530dA, all together more than 300 kms.
Service was excellent in Laakkonen Espoo, just to call to salesman and he arranged the car what I liked to test. Test drives are the best thing when selecting the new car

By the way, the dealer had xDrive test days during the last weekend and I tested brand new 530xdA, what a great car! It had spiked winter tyres, but I didn't succeeded to get DTC light illuminating... It just jump, when asked and the car balance is excellent, great difference to basic model!

I test drove the 530d SE for four days! and then the dealer let me test drive a 2.5d Sport for four days, whilst the Sport looked cooler the 3.0d engine won me and I did not like the even firmer ride on the Sport with those awful run flats.
By the way the run flats on the Mini Cooper dont feel bad at all.
