High gloss shadowline in USA?

The shadowline trim on my 545 sport has a flat finish as well. I don't think they offer it in a glossy finish. IMO the flat finish looks much better on the car....at least it does on my Orient Blue.

The high gloss shadowline does not come on any US model E60's, but you can buy the pieces and retrofit. Personally I like the matte shadowline better. I think it looks more sporty. My wife's 2001 X5 came with the high gloss shadowline and it has a lot of stains on it now (sort of like it has oxidized), and they don't go away with any cleaners or waxes.

Im not sure if this applies to all BMW models, but I beleive that the matte shadowline trim is part of the sport package during a model's first years. The high-gloss shadowline seems to come with the "refreshened" model sport packages or with special packages such as the 3 series performance package. I dont know if this really holds true, but from what I have noticed it seems to be that way...
My freind has a 330ci performance package and it has high-gloss shadowline. My cousin has a 325ci sport when it first came out; matte shadowline. I had a 1999 e39 540i sport, matte shadowline. A freind had a 2003 540i sport and it had high-gloss shadowline. Alone with my e60 I drive a 2004 X5. No sport, but on the X5 they all come with matte, unless ordering the sport I guess which gives you shadowline. So the X5 would be the exception here.
My opinion: High-gloss shadowline is nicer to look at only when new, but matte shadowline always remains looking good. I wanted it on my e39 and e60, but have been quite happy with the matte look. I still appreciate when I see a high-gloss trim however, especially on an e39 ///M5!

Lets hope so, but I dont think our cars look bad with the Matte look anyhow. You know what else I think that I just realized? Im not 100% sure, but out of all the cars that I have seen shadowline have been sport packages, but the ones with high-gloss have been the higher-end models. Such as your 545i, or my freinds e39 540i. Who knows

My wife's X5 is a first year production (5/2000) sports package and it has the high gloss shadowline. I remember seeing some post-refresh (2004) X5's that had the matte shadowline, although I am not sure if they were sport packages or not.

Hmm! Well I knew I wasnt 100% sure, but as far as the X5's and even the X3s go, I think they only offer shadowline as standard and high-gloss in some models as your wife's. May I ask, is your wife's X5 the 3.0 or 4.4? Not like it would make much of a difference, but Im also guessing that the larger engine models offer the high-gloss. Mine is a 2004 3.0 X5 and it has matte.
