I picked up my CPO 2006 550i on June 30th. I was at the end of my 3 year lease on my 2007 530 and needed to get a replacement car fast.

2 days before the lease return date I found this 550 at the same dealer. They prepped the car in 1 or 2 days so it would be ready the day I returned the 530.

When I picked up the CPO 550 I felt some vibration at the steering wheel, the front cigarette lighter didn't work, the comfort access wasn't programmed on the second key and the car hadn't been detailed to have that showroom look.

The car was booked in to have all this taken care of as it was recognized the delivery was rushed to coincide with my lease return. They discovered the front rotors were out of round and needed to be replaced and while looking at the rotors they found a nail in the sidewall of the rear tire so a new tire was ordered which cost me $600 installed (Pirelli PZero).

I got the car back 2 weeks later! They had problems getting a new tire and some other "issues". When I got the car back it still had scratches which should of been removed with a good polishing job and I thought wasn't right on a CPO? I noticed a large gap on the front hood and while looking at it with the sales guy we found the front bumper was loose.

It was decided I should bring the car in again so they can adress the bumper issue and do a proper detailing job. Couple of days later I get a idrive flat tire warning again. I bring the car back to the dealer and they tell me that as far as they're concerned the bumper wasn't loose when the car was delivered (I would know if I hit something and I didn't even have the car since it was with the dealer for two weeks!)

They took a look at my tires to find the flat and instead found that the rear wheel opposite from the flat from 2 weeks ago has a cracked rim and the tire has some serious uneven wear on the inside thread where it's been worn all the way down and the rest of the thread is like new.

Now they don't want to fix the front bumper as they claim it wasn't loose on delivery. I bought a new tire 2 weeks ago and now I would need to buy a new M172 rim and another tire as well!!

I'm at a lost! What are your opinions?

Forgot to mention...the tech at the dealership mentionned the uneven wear would be due to the rear wheel not being aligned and said the wheels should be aligned once a year not realizing this was a 3 week old CPO! Weird

Wow! Sounds like you were standing face to the wall at the dealership and those guys took a running charge at your rear private area with a broom stick. Ouch! $600 for a stupid runflat? Even in $Cdn that's a lot of money. Really, everything should have taken care of before you drove the vehicle out of that place the first time.
Go back and take it out on the general manager, pronto. And then, have them take out that broom stick. You'll feel a lot better.

the last time I expressed my discontent with the CPO manager he told me that they really did me a lot of favors by getting the car ready that fast and they absorbed $1500 on over mileage from my lease return as part of the deal we negotiated making me feel like I had no right to ask for more! and they made no money on the car and I had to keep in mind that it's not a new vehicle! wow!

I agree. If this was and is a CPO then they should have a record of everything that was checked and done with the car. I would start where you left off and keep going until it is resolved.

I don't know whether to cry or point finger at you and laugh... Of course, I feel terrible for all these troubles you're having, but you have to show some backbone at some point here!

It is downright tragic that a company like BMW would let criminals run it's dealership. Yes, criminals - these people are stealing from you and you're being nice to them in return.

I mean, it goes without saying, they owe you the alignment, but there might be a deeper issue here. Have you seen the Carfax report on this car? Has it been more than 30 days since you picked it up? Consider ALL information you have on this car and do some research and you'll probably see it is a lemon. Sorry - not a pleasant thing to hear, but someone's gotta say it.

Put on your pimp hat and go slap those bitches silly - that's what you should do to that dealer! They are STEALING from you every time you go there and you're turning into a regular customer!

I totally hear you guys.....I'm still a little confused by all the shit that went down since I picked up the car and needed a little time away from all this to think it through and put together a plan of action rather than just walking into the dealer not knowing how to approach this.

My next move is to determine why the uneven tire wear. If the rear wheels were misaligned that badly it could be the cause of the cracked rim because of all the pressure on the rim's edge from the wheel camber being too severe.

I'll request a list of all the checks that were done to CPO the vehicle and see if I can pull the Carfax as well.

They overlooked the rotor issue and others...that tells me they rushed the checklist process. As a result, I'm not convinced about the "you probably hit a pothole" theory.

At this point, I'll have a sit down with my salesman with whom I've had a decent relationship to date and give him a rundown of the full story and see if he's inclined to turn this situation around and make it better. If not, I'll have to start with some pressure and show them I mean business and I'm willing to take this much further if need be.

The scratches, broken cigarette lighter, non working comfort access, loose bumper, rotors being out of round and misaligned rear wheels seem like too many overlooked issues for a proper CPO.

I hope they're willing to play nice and act accordingly....otherwise, this could be a long and painful process.
