My Ride: Bmw 530d 2004
A couple of weeks ago when I changed my winter wheels on, I noticed there was some backlash emerged in right front wheel. As you can guess I was pissed about it and thought that I must have some vibrations on steering wheel. I didn't know what was wrong at that time.
I didn't have time to investigate it then, but luckily couldn't feel any vibrations. At first I thought it was the wheel bearing but when I had time to look it, I figured out it was the outer joint of the wishbone.
I'm spending my working days in another town up to December, so I drove to a dealer in Lappeenranta on Monday, ordered the part and booked a service time for today. Today I drove in, told the mechanic that I'm not 100% if it was the wishbone making the backlash, he investigated it, confirmed the fault, changed the part in 45 minutes and I was good to go! And I got a 10% discount as I am a member of BMW Club Finnland. And now I can change the other side by myself if needed, since I studied the operation while the mechanic worked. He also told me some useful stuff on suspension parts while doing his job.
Happy ending, and I'm proud I discovered the fault by myself and saved some money.
