I dont think youll get 30,000 miles form the Bridgestones

You're probably right, but at this point, I can't imagine anything worse than those horrible Dunlops. My last 2 BMW's had Michelins and Bridgestones and I was able to get about 27,000 before replacements. In any event, I'm just happy to get a set of free tires and use the $1000+ for some other toys.

Good news for you jeffnin!

Unfortunately for me, a few months ago when I conplained about the Dunlop noise at around 7000 miles, BMWNA said they hadn't heard any complaints and that they'd been using runflats with the Mini for years, etc. I asked the dealer and basically got the same story. I had a Dunlop dealer look at them and they said the fronts were cupped.

Now, the rears are done (after about 9000 miles) and the fronts are getting there. I took them off for winter but I'm wondering if anyone will give me new rear tires since mine are now essentially bald. Unless BMW changes their policy, I'm probably going to simply get four new tires in the spring.

I had the PZero Rosso's on my A6 2.7t and they handle awesome in both Wet and Dry. Road noise similar to OEM which is very quiet. My current TOYO Proxes T1s don't have the same especially on wet roads but they were about $30 cheaper per tire. You get what you pay for.

I am trying the Pirellis.. I ran over a rock which burst the sidewall of the Dunlop RunFlats and bent the wheel. I was able to drive in the rain at 60mph and keep good control, amazing.
Was looking for an excuse to get new tires anyway as the Dunlops had become very noisy at 10K miles. Tirerack and my independent BMW shop recommended the Pirelli Nero M+S.

Will post when they are mounted and I get a few miles.

My 545/6sp was built in March, 04 and the Dunlop runflats started to really roar at >50mph starting around 7500 miles.? Treadwear is minimal; it's like I've worn off some outer rubber layer and gotten to some compound that's rock hard.? The Michelin Pilot Sports (non RF) on my 330i were never this loud, even when they had 30,000 miles on them and almost no tread left.? I'm very curious to know if this is a BMWNA thing or just an isolated dealership greasing a squeaky wheel.

Mine is a SMG car and a March '04 build, no tire problems with 10,000 miles on them. I have the Dunlaps RF.

I also have the Dunlop RFs on my '04 545. 9,300 miles and the noise is terrible. Finally took it to the dealer today and they checked the tires, yep, pretty badly cupped. But, not our problem, deal with Dunlop. So I called BMW NA to see what they had to say, of course, same response, not our problem. Spoke with Dunlop customer service and they took my information and referred me to a local Dunlop retailer.

Took it to the recommeded shop and they confirmed the cupping and that this was causing the roar. The manager at the retailer spoke with Dunlop corp and filled them in on his diagnosis. Long story short, Dunlop agreed to credit me 75% of the retail value of all four tires. The rears were $440 apiece and the fronts $394 so all in all I've got a credit of roughly $1,200.

Had the retailer order me a set of the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3, price matched from TireRack. So I'm getting a new set of tires for nothing!

Thought you folks might be interested.

Good for you, Brian! It really bothers me that we have to fight over this tire issue when there is clearly a problem with early production Dunlop RF. If neither you nor I had complained, we would have been forced to fork over $1000+ for new tires. Too bad that your dealer didn't go to bat for you as mine did.

Great! Dunlop dealer (good year tire store) replaced my front left dunlop RF under warranty because a wire was sticking out, like the inside of the tire was coming out. I will go back about the roar and see what they say, I have 11000 miles now

BMWNA is replacing my Dunlop run flat tires today. They are giving me a new set of Brigestone Potenza run flat tires. I would have chosen conventional tires, but they said that they are replacing all of the bad Dunlops with Bridgestone run flats. Apparently, this has now risen to the level of a company-wide warranty program.
