I am very surprised at the comments that the M-tech and wheels do "nothing" for the value of the car. Maybe they don't add 100% of their cost to the value, but they have to count for something if they are of interest to the original poster. If I was looking at two cars priced the exact same, and one had the M167 wheels, I would absolutely buy that car over the other one, even if it was $500 or maybe $1000 more. If I was going to add an M-tech kit myself, then of course I would pay more to buy a car that already has it on it.
It just isn't true to say that some popular mods don't add ANY value to a car. Maybe some of the CF mods I did won't add any value, but a nice set of wheels and an M-tech kit have to be worth something!

Henry,
Your car definately sounds nice. if it was auto- I would have highly considered it with those options. But the car will be also driven by my wife, hence can't get manual.

Honestly, you could get a better deal than my car. I've seen 2004 545i's going for mid to high $20's on eBay for the past few weeks now.

I did say "almost no" value. The only way you'd have any chance of seeing $1000 return on resale is if it's to another BMW person "in the know." The average Joe or brand chaser is gonna look at you like you just sprouted some ass cheeks out of your forehead when you ask for an excessively high price just because of those parts. And even a person in the know isn't going to give you much, if anything, for your mods. The car has been personalized to your tastes, not the new owner. That's why it's rare to get a return on your investment on mods. Just look at hotrods and restomods for proof. Those guys spend tens of thousands of dollars on mods (sometimes over $100K, all in) and are fortunate to see a $40K sale at auction.
Some of the folks here have done a lot of mods to their E60s, but if I were buying them, I would probably offer less than the market value of a stock one. The cars have been "whored out" so to speak.

Exactly. Like I said before, it can't hurt to ask. For all you know, he probably built in some wiggle room in his price and could go lower for a serious buyer. I can tell you one thing, my car isn't for sale but if someone came to me with $31k, I'd have some serious thinking to do.

Oh crap,
If you're going to buy that car for that much, you can buy mine for $31K. It's got CPO, the mods in my sig and the extended maintenance package. I've got all the records for the car. It's has 39K miles.
He's asking too much. Around $30K - $32K would be fair.
